Adel Dam (Yorkshire Wildlife Trust)

This week I visited Adel Dam Nature Reserve in North West Leeds. The reserve is located at the bottom end of Golden Acre Park and belongs to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. To access the reserve you need to park in the main car park for Golden Acre Park, take the path under the road and follow the path down the side of the lake. Instead of following the path along the bottom of the lake, take the path parallel to it and after about fifty yards the entrance to the reserve is on the right.

There are two hides on the reserve, the Marsh Hide & Lake Hide, I went to the Marsh Hide as I wanted to try and get a good picture of the Kingfisher, Nuthatch & Great Spotted Woodpecker. From the Marsh Hide I spotted 4 Great Spotted Woodpeckers (2 of them Juveniles), Nuthatches, Chaffinches, Great Tits, Blue Tits, Magpies, Stock Doves, Mandarin Ducks as well as few other birds.

During my time in the Marsh Hide the was a flying visit from the Kingfisher and several from the Jay, neither of which stopped to allow a photo opportunity! I did not venture on to the Lake Hide today and stayed in the Marsh Hide for the duration of my visit. I have attached my pictures and full sitings list.
